‘AS you see it’ portal: Site aimed at health professionals, includes online video seminar + links to other resources

National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS) UK: Health professionals’ page on the UK-based patient support site. Includes a great selection of downloadable resources. An exercise resource for people with more advanced AS (called Fight Back) is available on DVD. HPs may also sign up for an e-newsletter.

GRAPPA (Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis): GRAPPA is organized exclusively for non-profit, educational, and scientific purposes, specifically to facilitate sharing of information related to psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

iAnkylosingSpondylitis Pro Via App Store: This is the pro version of an education app for AS. It includes 3D animations on anatomy, pathology, diagnosis (including imaging and differential diagnosis), assessment (including printable forms) and treatment

SPARTAN – Spondyloarthritis Research and Treatment Network: SPARTAN is a network of health care professionals in North America who are dedicated to research, awareness and treatment of spondyloarthritis. SPARTAN is funded through educational grants from companies with an interest in this area of medicine.

A set of ten recommendations to guide aspects of exercise prescription; includes an exercise framework that can be adapted for other chronic conditions.

RAP-eL
A free e-learning resource  has been developed by a WA coloration between Curtin University, Arthritis and Osteoporosis WA and the WA Dept of Health and Human services, to ‘provide practising physiotherapists with essential disease-specific knowledge and clinical practice strategies to optimally manage people with rheumatoid arthritis’.

It is an evidence-based resource, with 4 e-learning modules and case studies to test your knowledge.

Free Research Reviews

Research Review Australia – Rheumatology and Pain Management

These regular on-line reviews are written by Australian physicians and cover a selection of the latest publications in the selected topic. There is a paragraph summarising each selected paper, with a commentary provided by the author. They are available to all health professionals and there is no charge. AS Australia: Australian patient support group, including local contacts. Also available are DVDs of land and pool exercises, developed by the AS group of Queensland and physiotherapist Margaret Lewington.

Ankylosing Spondylitis Association of Ireland: Irish patient support association; comprehensive website includes self-management information such as a detailed section on posture. Also app (Supporting & Understanding AS, SUAS) to help with self-management

Don’t Turn Your Back On It: Collaboration between Arthritis NSW and Abbvie, aimed at raising awareness of spondylarthropathies

iAnkylosing Spondylitis app Via app store: This is a free version of the app described above, aimed at people who have spondyloarthritis. It provides factual information about the condition and includes a selection of animated exercises.

Empowered – Arthritis Australia: A great website by Arthritis Australia helping patients navigate inflammatory disease based on where they are in their arthritis “journey”. Includes lots of helpful videos.
